These actors and actresses included Georgia Burke (whom he discovered while visiting mutual friend Edna Thomas), Edna Thomas, singer Eva Taylor, Frank Wilson, Wayland Rudd, Richard Huey, Ernest Whitman, Inez Clough, Georgette Harvey, and Clarence Williams. The Southernaires, a black gospel quartet formed in New York City in December 1930, provided incidental music for much of Careless Love’s run.
25. 30 Georgia Burke Burke, Georgia There is considerable discrepancy as to when actress Georgia Burke was born. Sources cite dates between February 27, 1878, and February 27, 1894, a considerable discrepancy. No less uncertain is her birthplace. Most sources claim Atlanta, GA, as her hometown while one source claims she came from La Grange, GA, a town about 70 miles southwest of Atlanta. Sources agree that after attending college at Claﬂin University and New Orleans University, Burke served as a public school teacher for ten years in Wilson City, NC, before heading to New York for a summer course at Columbia University to study music.
